The contract is 4♥
by South after S opens 1♦
and rebids 2 ♥. You
get Q♠ lead , so it looks pretty straight
forward but you can go wrong!
Again this is about trump contol. Win the opening
lead with the A, then cash A and K ♥,
then play on ♦s. Your
opponents can take two trump tricks and A♦
only, as declarer can use your
♦s to force out their winning trumps. Should
you take the J♥
finesse which loses, then W can force you with ♠s
and you lose control of trumps and go down.
In a pairs event we'd go down because the finesse
is the natural play.
